What happened?
After a quick inspection of the board, it became clear: the resistor broke down. This is a fairly common problem with Siemens and Bosch models. The PWM controller also immediately came under suspicion. Its legs were shorting out with each other, which also did not add optimism.
Preparing for repair
First, I replaced the failed parts:
New resistor.
New PWM controller.
I had to clean the board before. Since it is double-sided, the process was not the easiest, but I managed it with a toothpick and flux. It is not scary to leave the flux - it does not require washing.
Installing new parts
Soldered out the old components. Used a soldering iron to carefully remove the resistor and controller.
Installed new parts. Apply flux to both sides of the board, aligned the pins of the microcircuit and put it in place. I soldered everything carefully so that the contacts were reliable.
Cleaned the board. After soldering, I washed it with alcohol to remove the flux residue.
Result
After assembly, I handed the board back to the owner of the dryer. The best way to verify the success is to test the equipment, so I asked him to record a short video with the machine running.
